Luke 7:36-50
In this message, Cheryl Brodersen showed us how Jesus used story to teach and minister in a way that could be received more readily and deeply grasped. Jesus was in the home of a Pharisee when a woman, a sinner, came in and wept at his feet, washing his feet with her hair. Simon, the Pharisee, was indignant at this. But Jesus then told a story about two debtors who were forgiven; one was forgiven little and one was forgiven much. We learned that as we recognize our great debt and the great forgiveness we have been given, our great love for Jesus will melt away all pride, self-sufficiency, and begrudging service and replace it with extravagant worship. This woman, with a poured out alabaster jar of oil, reminded us of the truth that Jesus truly deserves all of our attention, affection, and treasure! Jesus is worthy!
